I have never been so speechless in my life...

Recently, the Sheqi County People's Court tried its best to resolve a contract dispute case caused by online shopping of pet cats.

In March 2022, because of the need to breed pets, Liu from Hangzhou spent 4,100 yuan to buy a Chinchilla "female cat" sold by Zhang through an online shopping platform. The two parties negotiated for many times to determine the gender, price, health and other contents of the pet cat. The pet cat involved in the case was later mailed to Liu by express delivery. Two months later, Liu discovered that the pet cat involved in the case was holding other female cats in its mouth. After inspection, it was found that it was actually a "male cat." The two parties failed to negotiate refunds and returns, so Liu sued the court. After trial, the court ruled to terminate the pet cat sales contract. The defendant Zhang returned the cat purchase price and shipping fee to the plaintiff Liu, and the plaintiff Liu returned the pet cat involved in the case to the defendant Zhang. After the judgment came into effect, both parties refused to perform the obligations specified in the effective legal documents. Liu applied for execution of Zhang's return of the purchase price and shipping fee for the cat, and Zhang applied for execution of Liu's return of the pet cat involved in the case.

After the case entered the execution procedure, considering that both parties were out of town, in order to reduce the burden of litigation and improve the efficiency of case handling, the execution judge Song Xinglin decided to conduct "online mediation" through WeChat.

The execution judge contacted both parties many times to clarify the law and urge both parties to fulfill their obligations. Liu expressed his willingness to return the cats, but Zhang was not happy. "The cats sold before were healthy, but now they are returned as "sick cats." The two parties were in a stalemate over the cat's health, but the enforcement judge did not give up. He repeatedly persuaded both parties to make peace and make money by taking a step back. Finally, Zhang decided not to ask for the return of the cat. So far, the dispute caused by a pet cat was successfully settled.
