What the kitten lacks is not food, but someone to take it away.

It seems that every school has some stray cats. These cats don’t look dirty and are very cute, and are deeply loved by the students. The downstairs of the dormitory may be their base. Three or four of them walk together. When they encounter students, they collectively come forward to "touch porcelain", and they have the momentum of refusing to leave unless they are given food. For students, these cats are an essential part of college life, and there are always one or two photos of them on their phones. But most of these stray cats in schools are abandoned by students.

The reasons why students abandon cats include roommate disapproval; school discovery; graduation and leaving school; cats getting sick; insufficient budget; not meeting expectations, etc. Some people are afraid of being seen by others, so they throw their cats outside; some just throw their cats downstairs in the dormitory, and feed them when they see them during get out of class. If it is a female cat and it happens to not be neutered, then there will soon be a litter of stray cats, some of which will survive, and some of which will not.

Most of the stray cats in the school are relatively social and will not run away with caution when seeing little brothers and sisters passing by. Because they know these students, they will give it food from time to time and make it a cat nest to keep out the cold. Correspondingly, if these students want to touch or stroke them, they will deliberately expose their bellies. In addition, there are some stray cats that still stay away from people. They will run away if they see people from a distance, and they are also very cautious about the food they are given. They have a fixed territory, where they usually sleep and bask in the sun.

Those cats seem to be harmless and free, but they are always abandoned. You don’t know who their owners are, and you don’t know if they will come back and take them away. Although these cats are very well-behaved, when you try to catch them, you find that they struggle very hard. In addition, there are many people who like cats, and there are also many people who don't like cats and are afraid of cats. They are always a hidden danger on campus. They may really have no shortage of food, but no one can take it away.

In fact, many universities in my country now voluntarily sterilize and register cats on campus. Peking University has a public account of the Peking University Cat Association, which registers the cats on campus and gives each cat a name. Click on it to get complete information, from gender and characteristics to whether it is neutered or not, which kitten it plays well with, etc. Many colleges are doing this in the hope that they can all find someone who can take it with them. Because although these stray cats are living well under the care of students, if no one can take care of them, where will their outlet be?

Keeping a cat is not just a whim, and it is not recommended for students to keep cats. When I am not financially independent, and in a public living environment, not only people are restricted, cats are also very restricted. It cannot be taken away after graduation, and in the end it is discarded directly on campus. So before getting a cat, please consider whether you can be responsible for it. Otherwise, it is better not to keep a pet.
