Why do cats like wool?  The cat may chew or suck wool, and it may have pica, a non-food disease in which it eats no nutritional value.

Licking wool is not uncommon in certain breeds of cats, especially Siamese cats or breeds with Siamese cat ancestry, but we just don't know. In fact, veterinary researchers have discovered that this strange habit comes from a strong genetic tendency. Among all cats who are addicted to licking wool, Siamese cats account for about 50%, but the specific reason for this phenomenon is not yet known. Most cats gradually stop this behavior after they reach 2 years old.

As for the behavior itself, in addition to the genetic tendencies of some cats, there is another theory that if the kitten was taken away from the cat's mother 6 weeks ago, hair-raising products would be particularly attractive to them, because they had not been completely weaned at that time. They find wool blankets or other wool clothing as compensation for their own short-term breastfeeding phase.

Once the behavior of licking wool is addicted, letting it completely quit is the best treatment. You must take the initiative to take away all the wool clothes so that the cat can't see or eat wool. Spray some things they don't like, such as perfume spray on wool clothes. Although this thing also has a tempting smell, it won't hurt the cat.

You can also consult a veterinarian for a recipe, and some cats who are keen on eating wool will be more interested in it after eating some high-fiber foods. Finally, cats should also play "intellectual games", such as putting food in a few missing food balls, or scattering food around the room, allowing the cat to search everywhere, and putting various interactive toys in several different rooms, with the purpose of improving its mobility and extending its eating time to distract itself.
