Liverpool talks to the team about Bajcetic: The team is very cautious about him and is expected to first get a feel for him in the U21

The Athletic's Liverpool and team reporter James Pearce answered fans' questions in his column and answered questions about Bajcetic.

Fan Andrew-F asked: What happened to Bajcetic? Is he injured? Is it possible for him to make the first team this year? Or is another rental more likely?

Reporter: Liverpool have taken a cautious approach to Bajcetic, which is understandable as he is working hard to return to full fitness after undergoing hamstring surgery in May. The club decided not to sanction his loan move in August as they felt he would benefit more from staying at the club. The situation will be re-evaluated ahead of the January transfer window.

The past few years have been difficult for Bajcetic. Injuries have hampered his progress since impressing in 19 appearances under Klopp in 2022-23. He had a complicated loan spell last season, with a less than smooth experience at Red Bull Salzburg and a more positive spell at Las Palmas.

However, he is only 20 years old and time is on his side. He has returned to the court accompanied by rehabilitation staff, is conducting a personal training plan, and is close to returning to team training. I expect him to get some game time with Rob Page's U21 side. As for first-team opportunities, he might be able to get playing time in the Carabao Cup if Liverpool can knock out Crystal Palace later this month.
