The Post reported that Manchester United is significantly increasing the safe standing area (guardrail seats) at Old Trafford. A new area on the second level of the Stretford Stand will be officially opened starting with this Saturday's game against Brighton.
This expansion will add a total of 6,000 guardrail seats. After completion, the total number of safe standing seats in the stadium will exceed 13,500, accounting for 18% of the total capacity of the stadium.
The first phase has been completed before the game against Sunderland, and the entire project is expected to be completed before the home game against Everton on November 24. Manchester United said the move had received an "overwhelmingly positive response" from fans, but there were currently no plans to roll it out to other areas of the stadium.
