Dogs moult in spring and autumn, and a large amount of coat will fall off at this time. A large amount of phlegm will adhere to various indoor objects and people, affecting indoor hygiene. If eaten by dogs, it will also affect the dog's digestion. Therefore, it is necessary to comb the dog's coat frequently, which not only removes the dirt and dust from the shed coat and prevents the coat from getting tangled, but also promotes blood circulation, enhances skin resistance, and relieves fatigue.
How to comb the coat
Brush once in the morning and once in the evening for 5 minutes every day.
(1) The order of combing: start from the neck, from front to back, and proceed from top to bottom, that is, first from the neck to the shoulders, then back, chest, waist, abdomen, hindquarters, then the head, and finally the limbs and tail. After combing one side, comb the other side.
(2) Combing technique: Comb the hair quickly in the direction of the hair. When some people comb long-haired dogs, they only comb the long hair on the surface and ignore the undercoat (fine hair) below. The undercoat of a dog is soft and dense. If it is not combed for a long time, it can easily form tangles and even cause eczema, psoriasis or other skin diseases. When combing long-haired dogs, comb them layer by layer, that is, turn up the long hair, and then comb the undercoat.
(3) Types of combs: hair brushes, elastic wire brushes and long, sparse metal combs. The brush can only fluff the ends of the long hair, but cannot comb the fine undercoat (undercoat). Use a hair brush, a flexible wire brush, and a long, sparse metal comb to groom long-haired dogs.
What is the correct way to comb your pet dog? What should you pay attention to when combing?
Things to note when combing
First: Use special equipment when combing, do not use human combs and brushes. To use an iron comb, hold the back of the comb with your hand, swing it gently with your wrist, comb it horizontally, and use coarse, medium, and fine combs alternately. The usage of the comb is to use the strength of the wrist. The brush has many teeth. When combing, lift the hair with one hand, and then brush the other part.
Second: When combing, the movements should be gentle and meticulous, and should not be rough or reckless, otherwise the dog will be in pain. Be especially careful when combing the coat near sensitive parts (such as external genitalia).
Third: Pay attention to the dog’s skin. A clean pink color is good. If it appears red or has eczema, there are possibilities of parasites, skin diseases, allergies, etc. and should be treated in time.
Fourth: If fleas, lice and other parasites are found, they should be wiped with a fine wire brush or treated with insecticides in time.
Fifth: When the dog's coat is seriously stained, conditioner (1000 times diluted) and baby powder should be used together with combing.
Sixth: Before combing the coat, if you can wipe the dog's body with a towel soaked in hot water, the coat will be brighter.
Seventh For dogs whose fine undercoat (undercoat) is seriously tangled, you should use a comb or wire brush to comb along the growth direction of the hair, starting from the tip of the hair, and then combing to the root of the hair, little by little. Do not comb or pull hard to avoid causing pain and pulling out the hair. If the felting is serious, you can use scissors to cut the felt piece in the direction of the hair dryer, and then comb it. If it still cannot be combed, you can cut off the felted part and wait for new hair to grow gradually.
