Youth Training Club Director: Matteta was recommended to Saint-Etienne, but is considered to be incomplete in technology

Due to injuries caused by Dembele, Douai and Marcus Toulam, 28-year-old Crystal Palace striker Mattha was selected for the French national team for the first time in his career. From 2011 to 2014, Mattha played for JA Drancy, a famous youth training.

JA Drancy Technical Director Guillaume Courtaud recalled: "Matta was not a kid who was born to be a professional player, but he was very determined. Apart from his excellent athleticism, he was also a teammate with a great mentality and role model. He always made everyone laugh and was a model player."

"We had a partnership with Saint-Etienne, and after the season when Matta became the top scorer at U17, I talked to his father and his scouts at Saint-Etienne. They thought he was not technically comprehensive enough, especially the balance of both feet. So he went to Chartoru, which was a club we had a good relationship."
