UK media Techradar reported that the cooperation details of the global graphics chip overlord NVIDIA (Nvidia) and Taiwan IC design leader Mediatek on GB10 Grace Blackwell chips were recently explained in a new display. This in-depth cooperation not only demonstrates the technical integration of the two companies, but also triggers the market's hot speculation that NVIDIA may consider purchasing the joint venture for US$7.3 billion.

GB10 chips are considered as the CPU and memory design of the Department of Developers, further combining the latest achievements of NVIDIA's GPU professional technology. NVIDIA successfully demonstrates how to integrate its Blackwell GPU into a tight and efficient package by leveraging industry standard interfaces and communication protocols.

This breakthrough GB10 chip integrates 20 Arm v9.2 CPU cores, Blackwell graphics cores with 31 TFLOPs FP32 performance, and a unified LPDDR5X memory up to 128GB. These advanced components are made of N3 stages of tyres and are presented in dual-dielet packaging. The cooperation between NVIDIA and Joint Development Corporation was announced to the market during the exhibition, which also sparked the outside world's speculation that the two companies may have deeper level of corporate cooperation in the future. Although NVIDIA has had precedents of large-scale purchases in the past, such as trying to purchase Arm for $40 billion in 2022, it eventually failed due to the opposition and suspicion of the supervisory authority.

NVIDIA GB10 planning depends on the joint department to highlight the strategic importance of cooperation. UNIQI is an important supplier to the smartphone SoC market, and NVIDIA is extremely eager to expand its Arm-based chips to the pencil computers and game equipment sectors. If you can further successfully purchase the joint department, NVIDIA will also gain professional knowledge of key technology and supply chains. Although the valuation of Joint Development Corporation is as high as US$73 billion, not a small number, due to the rapid growth of NVIDIA's market value in recent years, its financial strength is sufficient to be able to acquire this scale market.

However, any purchase and joint venture test may face severe supervision challenges. Arm's transactions were blocked by supervisory agencies on the grounds of competition, and similar situations could also occur in potential acquisitions from the Department. In addition, the Taiwan government may not be happy that one of its most valuable semiconductor companies in the country is purchased by an American company. Therefore, regardless of whether NVIDIA will further consider the acquisition and development department, the launch of GB10 has clearly confirmed that the two companies have established close technical and strategic connections. At present, GB10 is an excellent example of how these two major technology manufacturers have jointly cooperated and jointly realized technological breakthroughs.
