Forget the bell sleeping button and the slow wake-up rhythm. According to New York Post, surgical sportsman Kathryn Smithh said in a video released on TikTok that growing into a simple and cost-free morning habit has completely changed her life, which only takes ten seconds.
Smith said that she was born with a bone-like head, and she could achieve today's success, and she had minor changes again and again; one of the habits could especially bring her vitality to the whole day: the first thing she did when she got up was to jump 50 times in succession. She pointed out that the core temperature inside the human body is lowest two hours before waking up, so increasing that temperature can promote functional operation of the body.
Real facts show that starting the body activities immediately at morning can bring great benefits. Sports doctor Hazim Moustafa said that psychologically, this helps to adjust the more focused, motivated and fulfilling day, sending a message to the body and brain "Wake up and start acting" to the body and brain.
He said that, from a physiological point of view, this can increase blood flow and oxygen delivery in the brain, making people more agile; exercise can also increase body temperature, further promote circulation, and help the body change from a static state.
Smith said that the jumping after getting up not only promotes blood oxygen delivery in the brain, but also quickly starts her lymphatic system; this is very important for maintaining fluid balance, expelling waste, fighting infections and supporting healthy immune responses.
Unlike the heart, the lymphatic system itself does not have any help and must rely on external movement to maintain fluid flow. Smith pointed out that calf muscles play a key role in this process, and jumping can activate calf muscles, causing them to shrink after lying flat for hours, which helps push lymph fluid upwards and prevent lymphatic hydration.
But Mostafa reminds that don't expect 50 jumps a day to create miracles. This action is only mild to promote lymphatic flow, and only continuous activities throughout the day can benefit the lymphatic system.
Smith also advocates other benefits of jumping, such as improving bone density; but Mostafa clarified that research has proven that jumping can improve bone density, but significant benefits usually require high-strength jumping training plans that have been conducted repeatedly over several weeks, rather than jumping casually.
Nevertheless, Mostafa still supports the philosophy behind this habit. He said that this is not a magic medicine for spiritual medicine, but a simple and effective start to establish regular sports habits.
And this is the habit that many Americans need. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that healthy adults undergo at least 150 minutes of moderate-strength aerobic exercise and two-day muscle training per week; however, the agency reports show that only 24.2% of Americans over 18 met these two standards in 2020.
Although the jump after getting up cannot replace the full amount of movement, it may be a necessary mobile machine. Another additional benefit is that studies have shown that morning athletes are more likely to extend this movement to the entire day.
Smith said, it took less than a minute to get up and jump; as long as you can still jump, you should continue to do it every day.
